These especially planned Levels offer a unique opportunity to experience the highest level of instruction with a friendly and supportive group of a similar skill level. You will be expected to stay in the same Level throughout the weekend which will help to progress your social dancing.
We want EVERYONE to enjoy and get the most out of the workshops this weekend. This means being realistic and participating in the Level that is appropriate to your current level of WCS dance experience. Please respect and be fair to your fellow dancers. If you are struggling in a workshop you may not be at the right level for your current experience.
West Coast Swing Classes will run throughout the weekend and a programme, check-in details and any other information you need will be emailed 7-10 days prior to the start of the Bootcamp.
This might be your first introduction to WCS or you may have taken a few WCS classes already but are not confident with the basics and still counting steps. You’ll be introduced to the basics and given all the tools you’ll need for a great start on your WCS journey.
You are already taking WCS lessons and although you have the basics sorted you need to gain confidence and take your dancing up a notch. You’ve probably been dancing for 6 months or less, but have been regularly attending classes.
In this level you’ll learn new moves and hopefully build your confidence to help you along on your journey.
If you start off in this level but find it too challenging or feel the need to work on your basics, please go back to Level One.
You have been dancing and attending WCS classes regularly and no longer need to count. You have a solid knowledge of the basics (sugar push, left side pass, right side underarm turn, tuck turn and whip).
You may have competed in Newcomer or Novice previously and want to take your WCS to the next level, learning new moves, shapes and variations. You need to work on your partnering skills, technique and timing, improving your social dancing.
It's expected that you regularly attend Intermediate level workshops/intensives and weekend events. You social dance frequently and feel ready to introduce more complex patterns to your dancing and are would like to accelerate your learning. Workshops will be fast paced working on connection, footwork, pattern structure and styling.
If you are having trouble keeping up with a class, please be fair to others in this level and drop down to Level 3.
We're thrilled to welcome back Thibault and Nicole in 2023.
They first began their journey together in January of 2019, but have been connected for far longer than that. When they first met, he didn't speak English and she didn't speak French, but, they had the universal language of dance that brought them together.
Through the years, they have enjoyed dancing together in the improvisational competitions and socially; quickly becoming each other's dance crush. They are a new partnership with big ambitions, traveling back and forth from USA to France to meet these dreams.
Now, they are the current World Champions of the US Open Swing Dance Championships 2019 in the Showcase division.
They travel everywhere together; teaching, performing, judging, and competing. They have quickly developed a good rhythm teaching classes and intensives together, offering great technique in a relaxed and fun environment.
Savana started jazz dancing at 4 years old and never stopped until then. Being passionate about dance in general, she has practiced many other styles in solo, contemporary, classical, hip hop. She participates in numerous competitions, obtains regional and national prizes, and enters the conservatory during her high school years.
At the same time she discovers dances at the age of 7 with rock then quickly salsa and a little later West Coast Swing.
On leaving high school, she made the decision to specialize in west coast swing and went to live in Switzerland to work in the school of Jang Widler where she still works today.
Joao started dancing at the age of 8 in a German folk dance group in southern Brazil. In 2006 he started various other styles such as zouk, salsa, Forro, Samba de Gafiera, and Argentine Tango. Dance then became an integral part of his life to which he dedicates several hours a week while following professional training. In 2011 he started teaching dance and met West Coast Swing a year later. He quickly fell in love with this dance. Subsequently, he traveled to many events in Brazil and abroad to train with the best. In 2014 he started teaching WCS in Brazil and continues to teach it with passion today in Switzerland and at some European events.
A very warm welcome once again to Browly and Inga.
Browly fell in love with WCS in 2010 and began his new adventure, traveling throughout Europe taking workshops and intensive courses with some of the best known and most respected teachers of this dance.
Today, Browly is best known for his clear and logical technique classes, and students love how he approaches musical interpretation in the dance. Passing on technique in a simple, efficient way, but also his strong values of respect for partners and enjoyment of the dance.
Breaking down “complicated concepts” into simple ideas with fun exercises makes it easier for students to communicate in the dance.
Ekow started dancing Salsa in his teens, he moved on to ballroom and street dance a few years later.
He has been dancing West Coast Swing for over a decade now and within this time he has developed his skills in other styles including Zouk. Combining his experience enabled him to create his own unique style on the dance scene. Ekow is currently a West Coast Swing All-Star and Judge and has won numerous Modern Jive titles over the years.
Ekow loves to teach and share his knowledge and passion for dance. Together with his wife Tash they recently opened Midtown Dance, in the West Midlands, offering monthly freestyles in WCS, Zouk and Modern Jive.
Since the beginning of their partnership early 2021, Andrew and Maïna have developed a unique way of sharing their passion for west coast swing together.
Both very passionate about helping the community grow, Andrew & Maïna are pushing to inspire and help each and every dancer explore their inner creative selves. On one hand Maïna has developed in France a well known styling program for followers, helping them create and embellish their dancing within the boundaries of WCS. On the other hand, after 10 years of teaching and after visiting about 30 countries, Andrew has developed a refined way of transmitting his knowledge to help any dancer better their WCS.
Through their positivity and smile, Andrew and Maïna will take you to the next level in style.
Izabella is a Champion West Coast swing dancer. She has danced west coast swing since 2009 and she has been teaching it for many years in Hungary and abroad. Being one of the most creative dancers in Europe, Izabella will bring tons of aha moments to most of the followers.
Izabella is an All Star/Champion dancer. She has always been there among the top 5 best dancers of this genre. She got her last award before the pandemic when she won the 1st place in the Hungarian Open Strictly in 2019, the 3rd place in the D-town Swing J&J in 2018 and she was awarded 1st place in UK Champs J&J in 2017.
