This might be your first introduction to WCS or you may have taken a few WCS classes already but are not confident with the basics and still counting steps. You’ll be introduced to the basics and given all the tools you’ll need for a great start on your WCS journey.
You are already taking regular WCS lessons and have the basics sorted, although you need to gain more confidence and/or take your dancing to the next level. You’ve been dancing regularly for at least 6 months.
In this level you’ll learn new moves, build your confidence and strengthen your technique to propel you along on your WCS journey.
If you start off in this level but find it too challenging or feel the need to work on your basics, please go back a Level.
This level is ONLY for experienced WSC dancers. It's expected that you regularly attend Intermediate level workshops/intensives and weekend events. You social dance frequently and feel ready to introduce more complex patterns to your dancing and would like to accelerate your learning. Workshops will be fast paced working on connection, footwork, pattern structure and styling.
If you are having trouble keeping up with a class, please be fair to others in this level and drop down a level.
Greg Scott & Lemery Rollins - have over 20 years dancing experience combined. Greg started in American Ballroom but competed in country winning many titles. He also has a background in ballet, jazz and hip hop. Lemery started in International 10 Dance (both Ballroom and Latin) and won many titles including: 3rd in the world pro/am 10 dance, 5Th in the world and 3rd in the USA pro/am Latin. She is also skilled in American Ballroom, Salsa, and Argentine Tango. Greg and Lemery are currently focusing on West Coast Swing, Greg winning many All-Star J&J and Strictlys. Together they have solidified their place within the top 5 couples in Showcase Division this year and are both currently at the top of the NASDE tour.
Olivier Massart & Henriette Koefoed - met in Boogie Woogie competitions when Olivier was dancing for Belgium and Henriette for Denmark! They partnered up in 2007 for the first big WCS events in France. Their swing style in Boogie made the transition into WCS quick and since 2008, they have competed, taught and performed at some of the biggest, most prestigous WCS events on the international circuit.
With a special humor, Oli & Hennie are known for sharing their passion for WCS with a good balance of technique and fun!
Jakub and Emeline - took their first steps into the dance world at the age of 16 and 12, both starting with Ballroom Dancing (Latin, Standard & line-dancing).
After her arrival in France at the age of 18, Emeline watched a video of Jordan & Tatiana and felt in love with WCS.
Jakub’s dance experience is mainly from Zouk, WCS or Salsa. He started to dance and compete in WCS in 2014, using his background knowledge in other dance styles to develop his style. His philosophy in dance is focused on communication.
They both became hooked on WCS and were especially drawn to the creativity, musicality, and freedom within the dance. They bumped into each other in a styling workshop in June 2016, and their dance partnership was born.
Thibault Ramirez & Ardena - Thiabault is from France and started dancing at 6 years old with Boogie Woogie, where he succeeded in competing in Junior and Main class division. He placed many times in the French National team and won a France champion title.
He has danced other partner dances like salsa, Bachata Kizomba and started teaching in in October 2013. He entered in his first WCS competition and became so passionate about WCS that he gave up every other dance to pursue his passion for WCS.
He has a unique style, drawn from his previous dance experience and in less than 4 years, at aged 21, Thibault became a talented 'rising star' in West Coast Swing. He is now an All-star dancer and has placed in many European and US Events. He aims to combine good technique with fun and discipline.
Ardena began ballroom dancing at the age of 6 in Kosovo. Her family immigrated to the US where she learned jazz, pompom, and hip-hop dance styles. She later moved to Norway and has helped to fuel the growth of the WCS community, instructing social dancing, in particular west coast swing, argentine tango and salsa. Ardena believes that dancing allows all individuals to grow mentally, physically and spiritually. She strives to show the world that we can all "enhance through dance".
Browly Adjavon - as far back as he can remember, Browly has always loved dancing and moving his soul to music, whether solo or with others. He started couple dancing with salsa. During the winter of 2010, he fell in love with West Coast Swing. Shortly after that he decided to put a hold on his former job to fully embrace this dance, and dedicated himself to learning more about how to improve his dance and how to teach. More than the theory though, for him, it is about understanding what you do and how you do it, testing whatever you learn or find out on your own during your dance journey.
Today, making his way in the West Coast Swing community with hard work, perseverance and humility, Browly is not only known for his competition results and his undeniable social dancing skills. He is also known for his teaching, as a professional whose pedagogy is well appreciated in his workshops or private lessons. He is clear and logical in technique classes and students love how he approaches musical interpretation in the dance.
James Mclauchlan - has been dancing for 16 years and has become one of the most well known and accomplished dancers on the circuit. He has trained in over 12 different dance styles including Waltz, Cha Cha, Ballet, Jazz, Jive, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, the list goes on. Still to this day James competes all over the world at an advanced level. Here is a list of just some of the titles he has won, Scotland, England, Ireland, Paris, Belgium, Sweden, New York, Washington and he has also won numerous world titles. In 2005 James was lucky enough to be chosen form 80,000 people to take part in the hit TV show Strictly Dance Fever where he placed third with his Partner Claire Adam. Since then he has worked in many of the Jive & WCS events that are held throughout the UK, teaching classes which certainly break away from the norm. James is a great believer of the fun element of dance. He is always first on the floor when it comes to party dances, and his classes always make people smile whilst learning some great technique at the same time.
